Susan Caser of Largo, Florida passed away on October 8, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born on May 3 rd , 1955 in Euclid, Ohio Sue was the daughter of Rosa and Richard Caser. She was preceded in death by her parents, and survived by multiple relatives including a sister (Sharon Burnley), a brother (Robert Caser), 2 nieces (Jennifer Alexander and Carianne Burnley), 2 great- nephews (Ashton and Dominic Alexander), and a stepmother (Louise Caser).

Susan grew up in the “magical” town of Barberton, Ohio where she ruled as the unofficial social director of a very small, tight neighborhood. She will be remembered for organizing the fiercely competitive Summit St. Softball Games, as well as sneaking into the drive-in movies with a car load of neighborhood kids.

After graduating from Barberton High School in 1973, she attended Bowling Green State University where she earned a degree in education. Her first teaching job, took her to Chillicothe, Ohio. There she resumed her role of social director as she taught at the parochial middle school, coached the basketball team, worked for the Chamber of Commerce, organized Gus Macker Basketball tournaments, promoted the outdoor theater productions of Tecumseh, and even managed to get the famous John Mellencamp to come to Chillicothe as part of his
small-town tours.

After a brief vacation in Florida, Sue realized she was meant to be a “beach nut”, so she left behind her Ohio Roots and her Barberton Chicken and moved to Florida. She eventually became a postal carrier and worked there until she retired. She organized and participated in poker, bingo, cribbage, shuffle board, bowling and her ever famous bike rides with her beloved dog Bruno. She had a love/hate relationship with the Devil Rays as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She even arranged a family feud football pool, where she shared a weekly recap of
every NFL game with an amazing knowledge of details.

Susan was a generous, smart, hardworking and unassuming soul with an adventurous and unforgettable personality. She will be missed dearly by many. Per Susan’s wishes, there will be no service. However, she did request that everyone live large, play hard, and be kind every day especially to your furry friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local humane society, or a charity
of your choice.
