Shirley Marshall
Shirley May Marshall, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, in Sand Key, Florida. She was born on January 11, 1932, in Port Maitland, Nova Scotia.
Shirley enjoyed a life centered around family, friendship, and creating warm memories with those she loved. She wintered in Sand Key, Florida, at her condominium of 50 years, and spent her summers in Rockland, Massachusetts, enjoying time in the Northeast surrounded by family and friends.
She greatly enjoyed the Rockland Senior Center, where she formed many treasured friendships and shared countless fun times with those around her. Shirley also loved staying connected with family and friends on her iPad, which brought her much joy and companionship over the years.
Gardening and hummingbird watching were among her greatest passions, bringing her peace and happiness each day. Above all else, family meant everything to Shirley, and the love she shared with them will forever be remembered.
She is survived by her loving children: daughter Lynne Sutherland of Dunedin, Florida; son Ralph Francis Marshall Jr. and his wife Vilma Marshall of São Paulo, Brazil; daughter Brenda Folsom and her husband Ken Folsom of Rockland, Massachusetts; and daughter-in-law Wendy Ketterer of Hanson, Massachusetts.
Shirley was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Ryan Sutherland and his wife Sarah, Shaun Sutherland, Melissa Marshall, Tracie Scavongelli and her husband Peter, Alyce Haldoupis, Kellie-Anne Meuse and her husband Ryan, Jacquelyn Griffith and her husband Michael, and Mychal-Lynne Doyle and her husband Michael.
She was also blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, her warmth, and the special way she made family and friends feel loved and welcomed. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be private.

My husband Jeff and I had the pleasure of being Shirley’s neighbors in Sand Key for nearly 14 years. We had the great opportunity to also know her husband Ralph, who was a former board president at Harbour Light Towers. Both Shirley and Ralph were always happy to share stories of the building, its history and former residents. We will miss Shirley’s sweet smile, her quick shuffle down the hall (she could move fast!) and the genuine warmth she brought to our Florida experience. She will be greatly missed. Our condolences to the family.
All of my years in Sand Key I was blessed to meet and call friends. Shirley was always happy and willing to join the Sand Key friends for every event. Prayers for the family. She will be missed❤️
Sincere condolences to the Marshall family. Shirley was a wonderful person and always upbeat! She will truly be missed by our Harbor Lights Condo girls! She always enjoyed our lunch adventures and game nights! I will miss her smile!❤️
