Mr. Russell Theodore Makara of St. Petersburg, FL passed away peacefully on the 30th of January, 2023. He was 82 years old. Originally from New Kensington, PA, he moved to Florida in 1975. Russ enlisted in the US Army in 1960, honorably serving 3 years during Vietnam as a Telecom Systems Repairman.

Professionally, Russ spent over 20 years in banking & finance along with 3 years dealing poker at St. Petersburg’s Derby Lane Dog Track.

He leaves behind the true love of his life, his wife Joan, with whom they enjoyed 39 amazing years of marriage.

Services and Ceremony planning has been entrusted to Best Care Cremation in Clearwater, FL. To pay tribute to his military service, Russ will be eternally resting at Bay Pines National Cemetery. Funeral Services will take place on Monday February 27th, 2023 at 1:00pm, with honors performed by the US Army Funeral Honors Team and American Legion Post 273.

    Just found out from Luchetta at the hair salon that Russ passed away last Janurary . Sorry for your loss. I still have good memories of all the good times we had when we were still friends. I hope you can get past all of those bad memories and we can be friends again.
