Richard “Dave” David Ceol, 66, of Largo, Florida, passed away suddenly at his home on August 7, 2025. Born on June 25, 1959, in Lorain, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late Richard John Ceol and Lois Elaine Francis. Dave graduated from Clearview High School in 1977 and earned a football scholarship to the College of Wooster, where a knee injury altered his path but never his spirit. A proud member of the Knights of Saint John in his younger years, Dave lived a life full of love, strength, and wisdom. On July 28, 2018, he married Berta Kay Lopatkovich, in a heartfelt ceremony at their Largo home. An avid darts player, Dave was a familiar face at local spots like The Office and Olde Towne Charleston, where he was known as “Old Man.” His love for the game forged deep bonds with friends who became like family, creating memories that will live on. Dave’s personality and unwavering devotion to his loved ones made him a cherished figure to all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Berta Kay Lopatkovich; his sons, David John Lewis Ceol and Robert Wayne Ceol; his daughters, Tammy Lynn (Ceol) Frink and April Dawn (Ceol) Hartman; his stepdaughter, Julie Nicole McCoy; and his sisters, Rachelle Louise (Ceol) Johnson and Jodi Ann (Ceol) Taylor. Dave joins his parents, Richard and Lois, in Heaven. Dave was a wonderful person who loved his children, family, and friends dearly. No words can express how profoundly he will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 20, 2025, location and time to be announced.
