Oliv Lavallee, formerly known as Hunter/Avery, 18, (they/them) died of suicide on March 21st, 2024, following a long battle with anxiety and depression. Despite Oliv being a valiant fighter, the pain of staying became more unbearable than their pain of leaving.
Born on September 15th, 2005, Oliv was a native of St. Petersburg, Fl and previously attended at Hollins High School, Pinellas Park Middle and Gulfport Elementary School.
Oliv was an unbelievably talented artist and loved drawing, crocheting, sewing, and singing. Oliv excelled at any creative outlet they tried their hand at. Oliv was a unique soul. One who was quick to help anyone in need, one of the most loving, caring, and kindhearted people you would ever meet. Super smart and quick witted, Oliv was always up for a stimulating conversation or debate! Oliv’s love of anime and the TV show Naruto was always comforting during dark times and would talk about it to anyone who would listen.
As a member of the community, Oliv was accepting of all, and a strong advocate for the rights of everyone, especially for trans and non-binary rights. In addition, Oliv was an active protestor for women’s rights, and actively participated in the fight against racism, homophobia, transphobia and so many others. Their biggest hero was Marsha P. Johnson and they strived to be like her every day and hope everyone can do the same.
Oliv is survived by their parents Tim and Amber Lavallee, Sister Caelen Lavallee, Grandmother Donna Hemington and many special friends, family and found family. Oliv was preceded in death by their Great Grandmother Mary Walker, Grandparents Charles Lavallee and Debbie Fessenden, and Oliv’s Best Fur Friend Hurley.
Thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged Oliv in their fight and their journey throughout the years, including all the therapists, social workers, teachers, nurses, mental health techs, EMS, and police. The support they offered helped Oliv in many ways and we are forever grateful.

I would like to offer my deepest condolences on the loss of precious Oliv. I worked closely with Oliv (Hunter) at Pinellas Park Middle School. I have thought about Oliv many times throughout the past few years. Smart and quick witted are so accurate. An absolute advocate and friend to all who knew them. This is such heartbreaking news. I used to take care of her great grandmother Mary Walker until she passed away. I had the honor of meeting Avery while taking care of Mary at home. She was an adorable little girl always laughing and doing all sorts of things. May your soul rest in peace.

So very sorry to hear this news. Oliv is the 2nd 18 yr old I knew who took their life in the last 2 weeks, the 1st is my cousin Charlie. It breaks my heart !

Dear Tim, Avery, and Caelen, I can still remember meeting the four of you for the very first time. I’m so saddened to hear of Avery’s struggle and loss to depression. Praying for your peace, strength, and comfort.
My life will forever be enriched because I had an opportunity to meet Oliv. Thank you Oliv for opening up, sharing your drawings, and having breakfast with this old lady you had just met. Rest now young one.
