Jackie “Jack” Lee Duncan, 79, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025. Born on June 15, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Joseph and Martha Duncan. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joe.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Saratoga for six years, receiving an honorable discharge. His time in the Navy helped shape the discipline, loyalty, and strong character that carried through the rest of his life.
While living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jack met the love of his life, Babette (Babs). Together, they built a partnership that lasted more than 30 years. Their journey took them back to Indianapolis for a time before they ultimately settled in Clearwater, Florida, where they found a
true community of friends who became like family.
Jack is survived by his wife Babs; his children, Carla King; Shannon and her husband, Robert Marshel; and Jeffery and his wife, Jennifer Duncan. He is also remembered with love by his stepchildren, Dana Abramovitz and her husband, Ty Audronis, and Steven Abramovitz and his wife, Heather Magaw. Jack was a proud grandfather to Hannah King; Kaylee and Hayden Russell; Emma and Josh Duncan; and Evan and Paige Abramovitz.
He and Babs embraced life in Florida, enjoying live music, the beach, and many evenings of trivia with their close-knit team, the “Recycled Teenagers.” Jack will be remembered for his quick wit, his devotion to family, and his ability to find joy and friendship wherever he went.
Family and friends are encouraged to honor him by raising a glass, sharing a story, and having a good laugh—just as Jack would have wanted.
As Jack often said, “ And that’s the last thing I’m going to say about that.”
There will be a 30 minute military funeral on Friday, November 7th at 1:30 PM at the Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, please consider donating to the K9 For Warriors organization in Jack’s honor.

My heart broke when I heard the news. I immediately burst into tears and couldn’t do my job. That’s how much Jack (and Bab’s) has endeared himself on me in the little time I had to know him. Holding back the tears now just writing this! Jack, Thank you for the blessing you were to this world and to Babs and your family. Someone like you will NEVER go forgotten cause your light was so bright! Babs, I love you! My heart breaks for you and I hope I get a chance to give you a great big hug real soon! You are an amazing human being and is no wonder how you and Jack ended up together!! God bless you and your family. You are ALL in my thoughts!
It’s always hard to say good bye to those we care about and love. I remember Jack’s wit and happy out look on life. Although many moons had passed when we last saw him, will always be glad we took the time to say hello as old friends. Babs always remember the special times to bring a smile to your heart.
