Bonnie Shiller, 71, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, while recovering from hip surgery in Pinellas Park, Florida.

Bonnie was raised in Farmingdale, New York, the daughter of the late Kerry and Constance Simpson. Alongside her late husband, Alan Shiller, she relocated to the St. Charles, Missouri area, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Education at Lindenwood College, earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Webster University, and completed the Child Development certificate program through the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute.

A passionate advocate for early childhood education, Bonnie devoted her decades-long career to shaping the next generation of educators. She taught at numerous higher education institutions, including the University of Missouri–St. Louis, Central Methodist University, Maryville University, Webster University, St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley, and St. Charles Community College. Through her work with United 4 Children (formerly the Child Day Care Association), and her presentations at countless local, state, and national conferences, she mentored hundreds of early childhood professionals and inspired countless others.

She is survived by her two sons, Scott (Kerry) Shiller of Greenville, South Carolina, and Casey (Anne) Shiller of Crestwood, Missouri. Her most cherished role was that of “Nanny” to her beloved grandchildren, Allison (9) and Harrison (5). She was also a devoted caretaker to her adored cats, Sunny and Hunny.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no interment or formal funeral service. The family extends heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of sympathy and support.

Memorial contributions in Bonnie’s honor may be made to Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership of Missouri, 3952 East Dallas Ct, St. Louis, MO 63125 (Venmo: @HOBYMO), or the Young Playwrights Festival at City Theatre Company, 1300 Bingham Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203 (https://citytheatre.culturaldistrict.org/donate-now/make-city-theatre-yours)

My dear friend Bonnie we have known each other since grade school. Such memories we have from the old neighborhood. I am so deeply blessed I was able to reunite with you for a birthday lunch in Florida after almost 50 years. And again last year for lunch at your house in Florida. I will treasure these memories dearly. You are at peace now and are reunited with your beloved husband 🙏❤️
