Benny Jackson Barnett, age 74, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on November 16, 2025, in Tampa, Florida. Born on July 27, 1951, to Ambrose Barnett and Emma Jean Burson.

On September 21, 1976, Benny married the love of his life, Kathy Crabtree, in South Haven, Michigan. Together they built a beautiful life and shared 49 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Kathy and their four children: daughters Rhonda Petrik, Laura Barnett, and Tonya Barnett; and son James Barnett. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren who brought him so much joy.

Benny spent 33 years in retirement, working primarily from home and dedicating his time to the things he loved most. An outdoorsman, he found peace in fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. These moments became the stories he retold.

At home in St. Petersburg, Benny was often seen with his beloved miniature pinscher, Jasmine. He walked her daily and would visit with neighbors at the park. To all who knew him there, he was affectionately called “Jasmine’s Dad.” He was known for the stories he shared with those he came across, and those stories will be forever remembered by his friends and family.

Above all, Benny’s proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren. His legacy lives on through the memories he created, the stories he shared, and the family he built.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Baldwin, Michigan.
