Athanasios D. D’Jimas (Tom) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 80 on July 12, 2026.  Born in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of Demetrius D’Jimas of Kastoria Greece and Loula Ducas of Montreal PQ, Canada.
He earned a BS/BA degree from Youngstown State University. He owned and managed the family business, D’Jimas Furs of Albany, Schenectady and Syracuse NY, where he lived and raised his family until he retired to Spring Hill, Florida.
Athanasios is predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Linda Vallas. He is survived by his son Nicholas (Rebeca) of Palm Harbor, FL, his daughter Stephanie (Ramzi) Ghannam, grandsons Athan, Samuel, and Matthew Ghannam of Dartmouth, MA, his sister Eliana Georgelos, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
While living in Syracuse, he attended St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox church where he was a member of Adelphia. He was a member of the Syracuse Downtown Committee and coached Little League Baseball.  After retiring to Florida, he enjoyed golf, tennis, and spending time at his Clubhouse. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones.
His warmth, generosity, and gift for fostering lifelong friendships in both Syracuse and Spring Hill will remain part of his lasting legacy.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Family and friends will be invited to gather for a Celebration of Life in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meeting Street School (meetingstreet.org).
