Mark James Sena
Born in Ohio, Mark was a fierce supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Seeking warm weather and sunshine, Mark and his wife moved down to Florida, where they settled and started a family. He was a hardworking member of the Clearwater Police Department for 25 years, earning himself the nickname “Officer Smiley” for his positive demeanor in any situation. In recent years, he enjoyed his duties at Raymond James Financial as a security guard.
Mark was well-known amongst his family, friends, and peers for his infectious laughter, wisdom, guidance, and unwavering kindness. He loved to play the guitar and drums, often encouraging his wife and daughter to start up a “family band.” He would display his air guitar skills while listening to his favorite songs or drum on the steering wheel in the car. Mark was happiest spending time with his family, playing with his grandson, and reminiscing over funny memories and inside jokes.
He is survived by his wife, Christie; his daughter, Rachael (Bryce); his grandson, Oliver; his siblings, Monica (Charlie), Denise (Jeff), Tami (Paul), David, and Diana (Gene); his mother-in-law, Joan; his sister-in-law, Jodie (Edward); and his brothers-in-law, Jeff (Lily), and Rick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic Sena and Patricia Hurd; his stepfather, Skip Hurd; and his father-in-law, Bill Armstrong.
A small private family celebration will be held to commemorate Mark’s life. There will be no public funeral services. In lieu of flower arrangements, Mark’s family would appreciate donations made in his honor to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL.
